A study says that when we admire a character in a movie or drama series, then we can reduce the loneliness. In fact, according to him, this makes us connected to the characters in the movie so that ultimately it increases emotional intelligence. Barnes said that our brains were not really able to distinguish between relationships in the real world with the world of fiction. For this reason, we feel we have an attachment to or close to the characters in the movie or series that we follow. This attachment also turns out to train our emotional sensitivity in others.
In this study, health experts divided the study participants into two groups. One group has a favorite series that is often watched and the other group doesn’t. The result is, those who routinely watch their favorite series and can even cry when they see it tend to be better at recognizing emotions owned by others when compared to those who don’t watch movies or series.
